Which 3D printers are suitable for beginners?

Would you like to purchase a 3D printer but you are new to the world of 3D printing? Then you may feel overwhelmed by the wide and versatile range of 3D printers during the orientation process.

To support you in making the right choice, we have made a handy overview with points of interest and a list of the top 5 3D printers for beginners.

What should I pay attention to when choosing my 3D printer?

When choosing your 3D printer, the following points play an important role:
  • Which material or filament type do you want to 3D print with?
  • How big will your printed objects be?
  • Will you be printing with one or more colours at the same time?
  • Are you technically skilled?
  • What guarantees and service will I receive?
When buying a 3D printer, it is important to know which materials you’d like to print with. Some materials, such as ASA, require a high temperature for both the nozzle and the heated bed. The most common filament to start printing with is PLA.

The size and colour of the items you want to print are also important. You’ll find the maximum print size listed as the build size. Multicolour systems, such as the Bambu Lab AMS or Creality CFS system, allow multi-colour prints with relative ease.

In addition, your technical knowledge plays a role. If you do not have any technical knowledge, it is best to choose a newer 3D printer with auto-levelling, such as the Creality K2 Plus Combo, where you can start printing almost immediately.

Are you an enthusiastic hobbyist and/or technically skilled? Then an easy-to-assemble 3D printer kit is also an excellent option. However, if you plan heavy use or need technical prints, you may prefer something sturdier, like the all-metal build of the Bambu Lab X1 Combo.
